Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Promoting Interoperability Program

Also known as SUD PIP

This program provides funding to qualifying SUD providers to help them deploy or upgrade electronic health record technology to provide more effective care to those suffering from addiction.

Who is this program for?

This program is open to any provider who meets the following requirements:

  • A non-profit or for-profit organization, or governmental entity

  • A Medicaid provider with adjudicated claims from Medicaid

  • Licensed by the Department of Health’s Office of Licensing (OOL) to provide SUD treatment prior to the start of services

  • Receives funding from DMHAS to provide SUD treatment services, either through cost-based contract or fee-for-service

  • Has at least 50 SUD admissions during CY 2018 which are documented in NJSAMS

What is involved?

Providers in this program must meet several milestones, which are tied to financial incentives.

*New Jersey state has the option to revise the milestones to another quality metric based on available HIT capacity.

Where are we in the process?

The Substance Use Disorder Promoting Interoperability Program is still open for participation by eligible providers.

When did the program launch and what is its timeline?

Enrollment in this program began in 2019 and will end March 31, 2021.
This is a first-come, first-served program with a defined budget. We encourage participation as soon as possible to secure funding.
