Simon Nynens Named CEO of New Jersey Innovation Institute

New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) is marking the end of 2019 with a leadership addition. Simon Nynens has assumed the role of chief executive officer.

Nynens is not new to NJIT. He has served as the university’s vice president and chief commercial officer since September, 2018. Prior to joining NJIT, Nynens spent 12 years as chairman and CEO of Wayside Technology Group, an international information technology company. He began his career at the accounting and consulting firm Ernst & Young in the Netherlands, where he grew up.

A graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, Nynens serves on the President’s Leadership Council of Stevens Institute and on the board of the New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC).

Don Sebastian will continue to serve as NJII’s president, and is assuming the additional title of chief innovation officer to better reflect his role advancing the transformative work done by our Healthcare, Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical, and Defense & Homeland Security iLabs; as well as our other initiatives.
